A Small Change After Baby Arrived

When we brought our baby home, one of the little things that changed around our house was how often I thought about what was coming in from outside.

Our dog Mugen has always been a pretty clean guy, but he also spends time walking through parking lots, sidewalks, grass, and whatever mystery spots dogs seem determined to investigate. Once we had a baby, I found myself wanting to wipe his paws down more often before he tracked all of that through the apartment.

The challenge was finding a wipe I actually felt good about using.

Why Ingredient Safety Mattered to Me

One thing that makes Mugen a little different is that he actually grooms his feet. After spending his entire life living with cats, I swear he picked up the habit from them. If his paws are damp or freshly cleaned, there's a good chance he'll inspect my work and give them a few licks afterward. He's also never been a fan of dirt, grass seeds, or little bits of debris getting stuck in the fur between his paw pads.

Because of that, I wanted something that was as gentle and lick-safe as possible.

After looking through ingredients and reviews, we ended up trying the GiVE A SH!T Dirty Wipes pet wipes.

What I Like About These Wipes

What I like most is that they're unscented. I don't enjoy heavily fragranced pet products, and Mugen doesn't need to smell like a tropical candle.

The ingredients are simple and include things like aloe, oat extract, chamomile, cucumber extract, shea butter, and vitamin E. There are no added fragrances or harsh ingredients that made me raise an eyebrow.

Most importantly, they actually work.

A lot of "natural" products sound great but don't accomplish much. These wipes do a good job removing dirt from Mugen's paws after walks, especially since we're in an apartment and coming in and out through common areas.

An Unexpected Benefit

They've also turned out to have a benefit I didn't originally think about. Mugen genuinely seems to prefer having clean feet.

He's always been bothered by little bits of debris stuck in the fur between his paw pads, and he'll stop to pick at them or lick at his feet if something feels off. A quick wipe-down helps remove dirt, dust, and the occasional tiny hitchhiker before it has a chance to annoy him.

And perhaps the biggest endorsement of all: Mugen doesn't mind them.

We never made paw wiping a regular habit before, but he tolerates it without any drama. In fact, I think he enjoys the result more than the process.

Final Thoughts

I also appreciate that the company focuses on sustainability and animal welfare. That's not the reason I bought them, but it's a nice bonus.

We originally started using these wipes because of our baby, but they've stayed in our routine because they make life a little cleaner and a little more comfortable for everyone in the house, including Mugen.

If you're looking for an unscented paw wipe with simple ingredients that cleans well and doesn't leave you worrying about the occasional paw lick afterward, these have been a great fit for us.

Sometimes the best pet products aren't the flashy ones. They're the ones that quietly become part of your everyday routine and make life just a little easier.
