The Cat Tunnel Bed My Pets Still Use Every Day
After losing our cat Shadow, I found myself looking for more ways to enrich Marshmallow's life.
She had never been an only cat before. While she still had us and our dog Mugen, it wasn't quite the same. Whenever Michael and I left the apartment, we often took Mugen with us, leaving Marshmallow home by herself.
She already had plenty of things she enjoyed. She had two cat towers, a cat cube, and a window bed that she loved and free reign of the home and all her toys. But I wanted to find something new that might encourage a little more playfulness and activity.

Marshmallow Loved It Immediately
The first thing Marshmallow explored was the tunnel.
She's always been the type of cat who enjoys finding little hideaways just as much as lounging out in the open. As soon as I set the tunnel bed down, she started poking around inside and quickly made herself comfortable.

Then Nyx Arrived
Not long after, Nyx forced her way into our lives as a kitten and decided she was staying.
At first, Marshmallow was not impressed.
Nyx, however, had completely different plans. She desperately wanted a playmate and wasn't discouraged by Marshmallow's grumpiness.
As the weeks passed and they became more comfortable around each other, the tunnel bed became one of the busiest spots in our apartment.
There would be surprise attacks from inside the tunnel.
Paws darting through the openings.
Random bursts of zoomies.
The occasional wrestling match.
Before long, Marshmallow and Nyx had turned it into their own little playground.
What makes me happiest isn't really the tunnel itself, though. It's what happened afterward.
At first, Marshmallow wanted very little to do with Nyx. Nyx desperately wanted a friend, but Marshmallow wasn't convinced.
The tunnel became one of the places where they chased each other, hid from each other, and worked out their relationship. They still aren't the type of cats who curl up together for naps, but they play together constantly now.
In fact, Marshmallow has become noticeably more playful since Nyx joined our family. She darts around the apartment, initiates games, and sometimes acts more like a kitten than an older cat.
Watching that friendship develop has brought immeasurable joy.
A match was made.
How It's Holding Up Nearly a Year Later
One thing I can confidently say after nearly a year of ownership is that this tunnel bed gets used every single day.
Not every few days.
Every single day.
The only spots in our home that rival it are the window-view perches on our cat tower, and those have a built-in advantage of bird watching.
Despite having plenty of other places to nap, climb, hide, and relax, someone is almost always using this tunnel.
Between Marshmallow, Nyx, and Mugen, it has become one of the most popular pieces of pet furniture in our apartment.
The tunnel still maintains its shape, the fabric has held up well, and it remains one of the best pet purchases I've made.
What I Like
The Tunnel and Bed Combination
I think the biggest reason this has stayed popular is that it serves multiple purposes.
Some days it's a hiding place.
Some days it's a nap spot.
Some days it's a wrestling arena.
The combination keeps it interesting.
It Encourages Interaction
One thing I didn't anticipate was how often this would bring our pets together.
Whether it was Marshmallow and Mugen poking at each other through the tunnel walls or Nyx trying to ambush Marshmallow from inside, it became a shared space that encouraged play and interaction.
It Has Lasted
Many pet products are exciting for a week or two before being forgotten.
This one has survived nearly a year of daily use and is still part of our pets' routine.
Anything I'd Change?
Honestly, not much.
The plush fabric can snag, especially in a home with rambunctious pets, but it still looks cute. I just trimmed a few pieces.
Other than that, it has exceeded my expectations.

I originally bought this tunnel bed hoping it would bring a little extra enrichment and fun into Marshmallow's life after losing Shadow.
